Today, we launched 2014 Year in Review, a look back at the moments, people and events that inspired the most conversation throughout the year. These stories reflect how people around the world use Facebook to discover and discuss what’s happening, from athletes like Leo Messi sharing experiences at major global events like the FIFA World Cup – the most talked-about event we’ve ever measured – to hotly discussed TV shows like HBO’s Game of Thrones. The data also show heavy engagement during current events, such as the Ebola outbreak, where news organizations like ABC started conversations to help educate people about the crisis.
Year in Review captures the most talked-about topics in news, sports, TV, music and more by measuring how frequently topics were mentioned in Facebook posts between January and December 2014. To see all of this year’s top 10 lists visit, yearinreview.fb.com.
Our community of media partners have helped to convene and enrich these conversations, bringing new content and perspectives to their global audiences on Facebook. As we head into 2015, Facebook Media will continue to highlight the best practices and innovation in content publishing and audience engagement that we see every day around the world.
