Facebook is launching the first-ever Facebook Football Awards, a celebration of the players, clubs and fans of the Premier League. This is an opportunity to put football fans at the heart of the game, connect them with the sport they love, and encourage them to share their passion for football on Facebook.

Facebook will present the awards in nine different categories, including Facebook Club Performance of the Year and Facebook Player Performance of the Year. Fans from all over the world can lend their voices and help decide who deserves end-of-season recognition, and will have the opportunity to vote on Facebook in the following seven categories:

  • Player of the Year
  • Young Player of the Year
  • Manager of the Year
  • Best Premier League Club of the Year
  • Best XI of the Year (an 11-man line-up of fans’ favorite players)
  • Content of the Year
  • Fan of the Year

Clubs have submitted their nominees for the latter two categories, which highlights their favorite piece of content on Facebook from the 2014-15 season, and a person or group of people who have shown extraordinary support for their team. They are also encouraging fans to vote for star players, like the Tottenham Hotspurs’ Harry Kane.

Voting kicks off today via Football on Facebook, Sports on Facebook and on the Facebook Pages of partners Mirror Football and BT Sport. Vote now: bit.ly/fbfootballawards

Open to football fans worldwide, anyone with a Facebook account is eligible to vote from now through May 11. Fans can vote only once per category. The winners will be announced at a ceremony hosted by Jake Humphrey in London on May 26, to be televised live on BT Sport and streamed on both Facebook and Mirror.co.uk.
