The 2015 NFL Draft is in the books, and Facebook was where football fans were talking about all of this year’s picks. For #DraftDay alone, 5.2 million people had more than 12 million interactions related to just the first round.

Facebook was the second screen destination (Facebook.com/live/NFLDraft) to follow the emotion and experiences of the top draft prospects and gain inside access and content from the NFL, teams and media.

Lead up to Round 1

Draft week started with NFL hosting several #DayInTheLife take overs and Q&As with draft picks on the main NFL Facebook page and Instagram account.

NFL revealed a new player each day to surprise its Facebook and Instagram fans, starting with Mike Davis on Monday, Dorial Green Beckham on Tuesday, Leonard Williams on Wednesday and finally Kevin White on Draft Day. Each draft pick chronicled their day as they made the trip to Chicago.

In addition, Bleacher Report hosted a Q&A with Larry Fitzgerald from the Arizona Cardinals.

Pre-Draft

Before the Draft, Kevin White captured his thoughts and emotions in a personal video to his fans via Facebook Mentions.

Throwback Thursdays are always a treat…especially around the NFL Draft. The NFL and several athletes across the league posted #TBTs of the big day:

“The Call” was one of the most exciting moments for a Draft pick and NFL teams shared those special moments with their Facebook fans.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers Owner, GM and Head Coach all welcomed the #1 Draft Pick Jameis Winston to the team:

Since NFL Combine, 7 million people had more than 25 million Facebook interactions related to the 2015 NFL Draft. Social conversation was dominated by the #2 pick and trade scenarios.

The top 5 players getting buzz were:

  1. Jameis Winston
  2. Marcus Mariota
  3. Amari Cooper
  4. Kevin White
  5. Todd Gurley

The two star quarterbacks, Mariota and Winston, together made up about 25% of the total player buzz about all draft prospects and the country was divided.
