Once again, the biggest night in Latin music showed the world that “la musica une”: that music unites. Talented artists from various countries gathered in Las Vegas, NV on November 19th to celebrate the 16th Annual Latin GRAMMY Awards™.

Artists, musicians, TV hosts, media partners and the audience experienced new creative ways to exhibit their work, show their support and connect with each other using Facebook and Instagram.

One of the novelties was the Mentions Live Studio, where verified public figures surprised audiences by hosting their own Live broadcasts via the Facebook Mentions app. There were 54 Live videos recorded at the Live Studios that received more than 1.6 million viewers during the Latin GRAMMY Awards.  This includes 10.58 hours of Live broadcasts and 9.85 million total views thus far.

Many artists used Instagram to share their unique perspectives of the event, like the talented photographer Omar Cruz who created innovative images experimenting with the Layout and Boomerang apps.


At the same time, Facebook fans around the world were able to show their virtual presence to their community using special icons created for this year’s award show:



During the night of the Latin GRAMMY Awards, both Univision and the Latin GRAMMY Page also had the chance to use the Mentions Live Studio to capture unique live backstage moments.


Instagram also put together a curated collection of the best Latin Grammy nominee Instagram accounts to follow in their Search and Explore section.
