In April we announced changes to our Branded Content Policy, enabling Verified Pages to extend their sponsorships onto Facebook. On Facebook, we define branded content as any post — including text, photos, videos, Instant Articles, links, 360 videos, and Live videos — that features a third party product, brand, or sponsor. It is typically posted by media companies, celebrities, or other influencers. Over the past few months, we have seen all kinds of publishers and influencers sharing different types of branded content on Facebook with their fans.

Today we’re excited to announce that Verified Profiles can now share branded content on Facebook. We know that public figures with Verified Profiles — including athletes, musicians, bloggers, comedians, and more — want ways to monetize their content on Facebook. We hope that with today’s update, public figures on Verified Profiles gain an incentive to share more quality content — of all kinds — with their fans.

Our Branded Content Policy has been updated to include Verified Profiles, though the substance of the policy has not changed. The branded content tool will work the same for Verified Profiles as it does for Pages. To learn more about implementing the branded content tag, or to get a refresher on best practices, visit our Get Started page.

As branded content rolls out to Verified Profiles, publishers and influencers will continue to remain responsible for understanding their legal obligations to indicate the commercial nature of the content that they post. To learn more about the policy, please visit our Branded Content Policy.
